The Challenge:
Maximizing Efficiency in Existing Equipment

Our client sought to enhance the efficiency of their NC-25 board cleaning system. The existing system required manual PCB handling, limiting throughput and introducing potential for errors. The goal was to design a PCB holding system that could be retrofitted, reliably holding PCBs in place and improving overall process efficiency – all without requiring modifications to the original machine’s structure.

Our Solution:
A Robust Retrofit for Enhanced Productivity

We engineered a PCB holding system designed specifically for retrofit integration into the NC-25 board cleaning system. The key was to create a solution that was both effective and non-invasive, seamlessly integrating with the existing infrastructure. The resulting system allows for the simultaneous holding of multiple PCBs (depending on their size), significantly reducing cycle times and improving operator productivity.

The Result:
A Cost-Effective Upgrade for Sustained Improvement

We delivered a fully documented design, including a parametric CAD model, detailed engineering drawings, and a comprehensive Bill of Materials. The retrofit solution provides our client with a cost-effective upgrade, enabling continuous improvement in their board cleaning process and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

Expertise in Action:
Seamless Integration and Optimized Performance

This project showcased our ability to combine mechanical design expertise with a keen understanding of manufacturing processes. Our team leveraged the following skills:

  • Mechanical Design

We developed a robust and reliable PCB holding system capable of securely holding PCBs of various sizes.

  • 3D CAD Modeling

We created a parametric CAD model, allowing for easy adjustments and future iterations.

  • Design for Assembly (DFA) & Manufacturing (DFM)

We optimized the design for efficient assembly and cost-effective manufacturing. The system’s construction primarily utilizes 6560-T6 aluminum extrusions, machined 6061-T6 aluminum parts, and 316 stainless-steel hardware – chosen for their durability and ability to withstand the NC-25 cleaning system’s operating temperatures.

  • Engineering Specification Drawings

We provided comprehensive engineering drawings detailing all dimensions, materials, and tolerances.

  • Assembly Drawings with Bill of Materials (BOM)

To ensure smooth implementation, we included detailed assembly drawings and a complete Bill of Materials.

We offer a comprehensive suite of mechanical design services, from initial concept development to detailed engineering and manufacturing support.
